Hi-Def IPTV over Fiber-Optics in Northern California
Northern California will soon be the envy of the HD/Internet convergence crowd when SureWest Communications rolls out it’s HD IPTV service via fiber-optics this November (via Engadget). Of the 260 video and music channels it will provide, 15 will be in High-Definition. Trials of the service are scheduled to start today.
Though not the first company to deploy HD content via IP, SureWest is breaking new ground by using the technology to deliver regular programming. Verizon rolled-out IP based video-on-demand services earlier this year in Keller, Texas.
