Philips MCP9350i MCE Set-Top PC Coming Soon

Philips, at the IFA consumer electronics show in Berlin, is showing off their upcoming addition to their “Connected Planet” product line called the Philips MCP9350i Showline Media Center (via Tech Digest). The new, silver and black living room friendly PC is powered by Windows XP Media Center Edition, features 250GB of internal storage, built-in 802.11b/g Wi-Fi, 3Ghz Pentium 4 processor, front panel LCD, and host of other niceties that have yet to be publicly released – planned launch: October 2005.

    The concept is nice, but the support is non-existing: The board and drivers all go back to end 2005, and no update has been released since by Philips. Problems and questions are left unanswered by their support service. (see http://www.xpmce.nl/ipb/index.php?showtopic=2726&st=160&p=20321&#entry20321 But this is logic: Philips is not a PC manufacturer, and their departements are thus not competent in servicing a media center PC. Avoid it, and buy such product from a PC manufacturer.
