Samsung HT-UP30 & HT-TP33 DivX/DVD/WMA/USB Home Theater Systems

samsung ht-tp33If you’re thinking about purchasing a powerful all-in-one home theater system, you might want to checkout Samsung’s new HT-UP30 (MSRP $369) and HT-TP33 (MSRP $495) models, which the company claims to be the world’s first to feature a USB plug and play port (via AME Info). The port, in essence, allows users to connect an external USB storage device and playback its media files through the home theater system. So not only can one tune into AM/FM radio, playback music CDs and DVDs, users can also listen to their stored MP3, WMA files, watch DivX, WMV files, and view JPEG images as well.

Unfortunately, the Samsung website lacks specification details on both models, but a quick search online reveals that Pixmania has the juicy info we’re looking for – view HT-UP30 page, HT-TP33 page.

I think you're right Smokey. I went back and looked at the different sites that reference the Samsung models and only the AME Info site states WMV playback -- all the others don't.

A downside of the USB host: it no worky with NTFS (though neither does the Buffalo Linktheater or Avel Linkstation).
