SnapStream’s Marketing people dropped us an email informing us that they are running a Competitive Upgrade offer until 4/30/05 where you pick-up Beyond Media & Beyond TV for only $60. Not bad… but what really got our attention in the email was a thread in the company’s forum about a company called VeaLink whose installing Media PCs in cars with SnapStream’s Beyond Media pre-installed, in-dash/seat color touch-panels, and Internet connectivity via a Verizon Wireless EVDO network card. Basically users can tap into the Web from anywhere on the road where there’s service at speeds of up to 500kbps.

VeaLink, as part of its “CarPuter” line, is offering two small form factor PCs (most notably the VE-M212 with low profile shock resistant case mounts), three touch-panel options, and a range of accessories like Wi-Fi cards, wireless keyboards, remotes, GPS adapters, etc. In addition, the VeaLink has developed a way, if you have a car equipped with remote engine start, to transfer files to the car’s PC when you start the engine, thus avoiding having to manually start the car to in order to activate the computer.
