PChome Touch-1 Skype USB Phone

pchome touch-1 skypeWe’ll probably be seeing more products like this coming out in the next few months. Skype and PChome Online have partnered to offer the PChome Touch-1 Skype certified corded USB phone (a cordless version is in the works for April 2005). The Touch-1, which sells for $699 Taiwan dollars (about $22 U.S.), easily connects to any PC and functions like a traditional landline phone. When plugged in users will be able to place SkypeOut calls using the numberic keypad, as well as, receive calls from other Skype users. Other features include microphone mute, quick dial, and backlight LED with a status indicator.

  • I don't know who actually makes those but here's news about even more handsets coming out, plus a project aimed at integrating WiFi with cell.

Roughly $22 and a wireless version coming as soon as April.

But then I spot a loads of other posts about even more handsets and gadgets which integrate VoIP with landlines. And this post about Vonage partnering with VTech to give you a home cordless phone much like the one I posted about. Hard to keep up!

Very cool! Who makes the 2-in-1 handset? Is that also from Cyberphone?

Combo is the way to go if it works seamlessly.
