Niveus A/V Storage Server Wins CES Award
CES is still nearly two months away, but awards have already been, well, awarded. Among the “Best of Innovations” winners is Niveus’ 1 Terabyte A/V Storage Serverp (MSRP $2999). The chief differentiator of the Niveus product is its home theater focus; the unit has A/V component styling, and no fans.
While the nearly $3000 price tag will limit the appeal of the Storage Server, for those who can afford it it looks like a very nice piece of A/V equipment. Custom software makes it non-techie friendly, and it can be used for everything from streaming media to backing up data from other sources. In addition to its fanless design, the hard drives themselves are mounted in an anti-vibration enclosure, so this thing should be very quiet indeed.
