Nokia GSM Remote Home Monitoring Camera

nokia remote cameraNokia has just announced that they will be introducing a new wireless home monitoring solution with an integrated motion detector called the Nokia Remote Camera. However, what sets this security camera apart is that it uses GSM cellular networks and MMS technology, as opposed to an Internet landline connection, to transmit its megapixel-quality photo images or video clips with audio.

According to Nokia’s press release, all one needs to do to set the camera up is insert a SIM card into the unit, enter a security PIN code, define at least one user, and that’s it! From there, users can control the camera via text message commands or if you’re in the proximity of the camera via a compatible Series 60 Bluetooth smartphone, such as the Nokia 6670, Nokia 7610 or the Nokia 6600. The device is expected to become available in the fourth quarter of 2004 in Europe, Middle East and Asia-Pacific, with the expected retail price of 450 EUR.
