Linksys WRE54G Wireless-G Range Expander

Linksys WRE54G Wireless-G Range ExpanderNow that Wireless-G networks are becoming more commonplace, Linksys has finally released the Wireless-G Range Expander (aka wireless bridge). The Range Expander will come in handy for most people who want to boast/expand their current in-house, wireless 802.11g signal.

Adding the Range Expander to a network is simple. Unlike adding a traditional access point to a network to expand wireless coverage, the Range Expander doesn’t need to be connected to the network by a data cable. More coverage for the wireless network can be done in three easy steps:

1. Plug the product directly to a power outlet.

2. Adjust the direction of the antenna. For best results, place the device as high as possible.

3. Press the auto configuration button on the unit.

The range expander will then detect the available access point or wireless router and configure itself with the network. With an MSRP of $99, the Wireless-G Range Expander is a no-brainer if you’re looking for a cost-effective way to expand your existing network. Remember, 802.11g is backwards compatible with 802.11b, so if you are currently running an 802.11b setup might as well pick this device up for when you upgrade to 802.11g in the future.
