Sony VAIO R Series Media Center PC

Sony VAIO R Series Media Center PCSony is innovating again; this time with a new liquid cooled air intake system (notice the large gap in the middle) that dramatically reduces noise levels for in-room A/V enjoyment. In addition, Sony bit the bullet and incorporated Windows Media Center Edition 2004 into the VAIO VGC-RA810G Entertainment PC, but will still come bundled with Sony’s (unimpressive) Giga Pocket™ for MPEG-2 TV encoding.

Other notable features include “Sony Click to DVD” burning software that can be operated via remote control, DVD+R Double Layer/DVD±RW drive, and 1.6 Terabytes max. storage capacity for power users with expansive music, video, and photo libraries. More details can be here [PDF file].

The good news (since most products like this are only available in Japan) is that the VGC-RA810G will start shipping to the U.S. next month and will be priced around $2,400 — available at retail and online at www.sonystyle.com.
