System TALKS USB2-MVA Portable Media Player

System TALKS USB2-MVA HandshotOn June 1st, a little known Japanese firm called System TALKS, Inc. will launch the USB2-MVA, an innovative 5.3 ounce, Compact Flash-based portable media player with an optional clip-on 1.8″ 20GB hard drive. The USB2-MVA is capable of playing MPEG-4, DivX, MP3, and JPEG digital files. Moreover, the device is equipped with A/V connectors for TV/video recording, or outputing video/photos/music to a TV or stereo for playback.

As the name implies, the USB2-MVA uses a 480Mbps, USB 2.0 connection for handling large video and MP3 collection file transfers. Unfortunately, though, the USB2-MVA’s has a somewhat dismal battery life: MP3 playback (when LCD is unused) 6 hours, MPEG-4 playback (when using Compact Flash) 2.5 hours, and only 1.5 hours when using the clip-on hard drive exclusively. But if you are still interested, 20,000 units will be manufactured and distributed in Japan this year with an MSRP of ¥34,800 (about $315.00 USD).
