Squeezebox Networked Music Player

Squeezebox Networked Music PlayerBuilding on the success of the SLIMP3, Slim Devices has released an even sleeker, more attractive, version named the Squeezebox. What’s great about this new iteration is that they not only redesigned the case and given it a cooler remote, but they have added a Wireless antenna for 802.11b/g connectivity in addition to its Ethernet port. Like its predecessor, the Squeezebox is compatible with Windows, Mac, Linux, BSD and Solaris OS platforms. It can still stream Internet Radio Stations, MP3, WAV, and AIFF. But now the Squeezebox has the ability to convert existing OGG, AAC, and FLAC music files into MP3 on the fly with the included “LAME” software. Furthermore, a variety of other software packages are included for added functionality; in particular, users will be amazed by “SlimServer,” a program that can convert your entire PC’s music library into an Internet radio station that you can access from any computer over the Internet using either a WinAmp or iTunes player.

We’ve got to say… we were very impressed with SLIMP3, but the Squeezebox, at the moment, is probably the BEST networked music player on the market.

* Squeezebox can be purchased direct from Slim Devices
