Linksys Wireless-B Game Adapter

Linksys today has announced two new products, the Wireless-B Gamer Adapter (802.11b – 11Mbps), which will be available in the beginning of August 2003, and the faster Wireless-G Game Adapter (802.11g – 54Mbps) coming out in time for the holiday season. Amazon is taking pre-orders for the Wireless-B Game Adapter with the price at $69. The Wireless-G Game Adapter is estimated to sell for $129.
The Wireless Game Adapters are designed to be used in one of two ways: connecting to an existing wireless network or connecting two consoles with their own adapters together.
According to Linksys configuring the Wireless Game Adapters is a breeze:
[The Wireless Game Adpater is] completely driver-free, so there’s no software-installation hassle, and it works on any platform. And the innovative Channel Selector Button with LED display makes wireless network configuration into child’s play. If you’re using two Game Adapters, just press their Channel Selector Buttons until the channel numbers match, and you’re connected. To connect to an existing wireless network, press the Button to select Infrastructure mode. If your setup’s a little different, there’s an easy-to-use PC-based Setup Wizard to guide you through. Then just plug the Adapter into your game box, and go.
